A moment to reflect - Big business vs the food we eat
I am enjoying the fact that my business is in the organic food industry. This is an area that has always interested me with regards to how the product is seen by the company producing it.
Is it all about the bottom line? Or ensuring that a healthy and affordable food source is supplied to its customers?
I get concerned when a company providing an organic food product has a mission statement along the lines of "to deliver sustainable shareholder value by being a global leader in integrated growing, processing and marketing" Instead of something like "to provided the best quality product as naturally and as sustainably possible"
Am I being silly in my thoughts of wanting the food we eat to be as real as possible? or are we living in a bit of a dream space?
Perhaps it is their way of saying what I am thinking but throwing in the values that we are learning as part of this account course.
Would love to hear anyone else thoughts or views.
